Dhoni had already etched his place in gold in the history books of Indian cricket.

Not that he did not have critics jealous of his magical success. The team had a one off poor run at the recent T20 World Cup in England and they pounced on him. But Dhoni relied on his bat to do the talking and after the West Indies series win, the critics were no were to be found. Dhoni, who bagged the ODI Player of the Year in 2008, is in the running for a second successive award in that discipline besides being in contention for the Cricketer of the Year and the Test Player of the Year awards as well for the coveted ICC Awards this year.
